2 Unzip the flash tool to your desktop or other convenient location and locate the folder RKBatchTool1.7 – inside this folder is the flash tool program RKBatchTool and the USB drivers for the x31 – Don’t open anything yet!

3 Unzip the stock firmware you just download, and you will get a file named: Update_x31.img or similar, this is the actual firmware file.

4 Next you need your x31 and the mini USB – standard USB cable that came with the device.

5 See the pictures below. You need to press the small recovery button on the back which show in the photos

The idea is that you should press the recovery button for a while, and then connect your x31 with your pc via the mini USB to usb cable.

6 When you have successfully connected your x31 to the computer you should hear a sound from windows telling you that a new device has been found. You can release the recovery button now.

7 The next bit is important… we don’t want windows to try and automatically install any drivers as we want to select the ones from the RKBatchTool1.7 folder.

9 Depending on which windows version you have the next bit will be different. In an ideal world the install driver dialog will appear as shown in the picture below.

9. You need to select the option “install from a list or specific location (Advanced)

10. At the next step you need to check the option “include this location in the search” and then browse to the folder: RKBatchTool1.7/RockusbDriver

11. Click Next, and the driver should install. You will get a message to tell you the driver installation has been successful – or not!

PLEASE NOTE – If it didn’t work or Windows automatically installed a driver you will need to completely remove the driver from the system and start over. To do this varies between systems but basically you will need to locate the device manager on your PC and find a USB device called “RK31SDK″ and completely remove and delete the driver from the system.

12. If the driver installation is successful you can then proceed to the firmware installation!

13. Open the program RKBatchTool and the tool will open.

14. At the top right of the RKBatchTool Window you will see a file selector, click on this and select your Firmware file in this case: Update_X31.img

15. If your x31  is correctly connected to the PC, the RKBatchTool program will show a green square with “1″ on it. If not then you need to go back and make sure the USB driver is installed correctly.

16. Click on “Restore” to install the firmware!

17. The program will give an indication of what its doing with a progress percentage shown below, when its finished you will get a message like *****upgrade done success*****

Stock firmware is still coming from 720P and upscale to 1080P, this is a normal problem for those rk3188 base tv sticks, however, our developer can make the real 1080p output firmware. so it’s not a problem.

wifi test:

X31 use the realtek wifi chipset, the max speed can reach 150mbps.

X31 still have the internal wifi antenna, so if you don’t connect with the external antenna, it also can connect to the wireless routers, however,we still recommend you connect with the external antenna, because that will improve the wifi signal a lot, here is the screenshot we made after we connect with the antenna:

X31 stock firmware already fixed the netflix scamble problem, you can watch netflix video without problems; The Netflix version we use for test is the one which download from google play store directly;

Becase Rockchip don’t open scource, so all of the tv sticks which base on rockchip rk3188 wont support hardware decoding, so it means if you want to play 1080p video smoothly in  BMC,you must use external Player, such as MX Player. More detail, check here:

I remember before one of our customers asked the following questions:

Step 1- Install Moborobo [ http://www.moborobo.com/ ]

Step 2- Connect NEO X7 with charger, and use the usb cable to connect NEO X7 with your PC, press the power on button on X7 and power on the neo X7;

Step 3- Go to settings in android on the NEO X7 and choose USB and check Connect to PC

Step 4- Go to storage (in settings in android on the NEO X7) then in the right corner under USB connection check mass storage

Step 5- Go to Developer options check USB Debugging

Step 6- Run Moborobo and after finding your android device connected to the computer it will promt to install the drivers…choose install driver software anyway

Step 7- After having installed the driver, download RK3188_ROOT.rar and extract the files.

Step 8- Click “ TPSparkyRoot.bat” and follow the instructions.you should have 2 reboot, and make sure each reboot, you need to go to your NEO X7 setting,and do the step 3 again; After 2 reboots, your device should be rooted.You may have some errors like “superuser.apk not found” or something like that, just ignore it. As long as you get “root = 0″ you are rooted.

Now Let’s check the ports on NEO X7, the reason we like TV BOX is multi-port support.There are following ports in NEO X7:

DC Port,RJ45(Ethernet Port),3 USB 2.0 Port,optical audio,HDMI port,Recovery Button,Power button,headphone port, microphone port,SD Card Slot,OTG port;

Compare with the other tv box i test, i can say, the NEO X7 has the best wifi signal after you connect with the external antenna. If you are still worry about the video problem in rk3188 quad core tv box, you can take it easy now. The developer on Freaktab already found this problem, and they are working hard to make custom rom for the popular models. (most of the models is coming from Geekbuying

So today, our friends Leolas bring us the custom rom for iMito QX1, so if you have the imito qx1 in your hand, prepare to flash this custom rom

What have this rom?

-Storage size for apps Increased to 2Gb.
-Custom kernel with frame skipping issue solved.
-De-bloated.
-Rooted with SuperSU and the last busybox installed.
-Init.d Support.
-After the first boot, it will install cwm recovery automatically. So you can make nandroid backups and install future updates, kernels or other roms in this easy way. This rom will be upgraded by cwm, so no need to connect to PC the stick to upgrade to future versions, I will make cwm flashable files for Bob Finless roms too, so when he release his rom you will can install it by cwm too.
-Some tweaks.

How to install it?

There is 2 ways:
1.If you have Leolas previous rom installed:
You have cwm installed, so only download this zip:http://cloud.freak-tab.de/public.php…735d4b9a1ca0f8
-Use the reboot app to enter cwm recovery.
-Make a backup of your current rom. (make a backup before flash a update is allways a good idea, but you can omit this step)
-Select wipe cache partition.
-Select advanced and then wipe dalvick cache
-Select install zip from sdcard.
-Select choose zip from sdcard or Select choose zip from external sd (if you have the zip in the external sdcard)
-Navigate to the folder where you download the zip.
-Install it. The process will last some minutes, so please be patient and don´t turn off the stick until the upgrade is complete.
-Using this way you will preserve your apps installed and your settings (If you feel the system launch FC or something dont work in a right way, then you must go to cwm recovery again and select wipe data/factory reset and you will lose your apps and settings installed, but usually erase data is not necessary)

You need a windows machine.
-Power off the stick completely.
-Press the reset button and while is pressed connect the microusb to the OTG port, dont release the reset button until windows detect your stick.
-Install the proper driver for your OS if you dont have them installed yet. You can obtain them from:http://cloud.freak-tab.de/public.php…fb85f0987122db
-Open RKAndroidTool.exe.

-Follow the steps in the picture. Be sure that you are in loader mode: Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb.
1.-Select the files to be flashed the are in the folder leolas-rom-QX1.
2.-Select the squares in the left like in the screenshoot.
3.-Click Erase IDB.
4.-Click Run.

When the process finalize, dont unplug the stick yet, wait 5 minutes, the device will reboot in the stock recovery and install the cwm recovery. Very important to wait some minutes, if not the device will not work properly, and bootloops or blank screen can happend.

Leolas also offer the following kernels for you, if you need to try 1080p firmware, just flash the kernel you need.

- 1080p-basic.img kernel with frame skiping fix, 1080p and stock clock speed.
- 720p-cpu1800ram1300.img&1080p -cpu1800ram1300.img kernel with frame skipping fix, cpu oc 1800 and ram oc 1300, it is a little overclocked, in my test they are safe and stable.
- 720p-cpu1896ram1500gpu798.img&1080p-cpu1896ram1500gpu798.img this kernels have a moderate overclock, I test them and works very well for me, but no all devices can overclock the same. I suggest improved heat dissipation to use this kernel.

1 Step 1,: download the firmware, and flash tools.

2 Step 2: install drivers, most of the people stuck in this step, here is an easy method to install the drivers:

Install Moborobo [ http://www.moborobo.com/ ]

Connect NEO X7 with charger, and use the usb cable to connect NEO X7 with your PC, press the power on button on X7 and power on the neo X7;

Go to settings in android on the NEO X7 and choose USB and check Connect to PC

Go to storage (in settings in android on the NEO X7) then in the right corner under USB connection check mass storage

Go to Developer options check USB Debugging

Run Moborobo and after finding your android device connected to the computer it will promt to install the drivers…choose install driver software anyway

Step 3 Open the flash tool, and prepare to flash the stock rom:

Decompress the flash tool zip, and open the RKBatchtool v1.7

Load the firmware you downloaded for neo x7;

connect X7 with power adapter, use the OTG cable in NEO X7 package, and connect NEO X7 with your pc USB port, find a paper clip,and press the recovery button on NEO X7, and hold the recovery button, at the same time press the power button on NEO X7, later, you will see the flash tool change to the following:

After you see the green block, it means your NEO X7 is prepare for flashing. Now you need to click ” Restore ” button, please notice, click the restore button,not the “upgrade” button. and then the flash tool will flash firmware on NEO X7;

NEO-G4-108C, let’s call it C version here.

This NEO-G4-108C version has a DIFFERENT firmware with the NEO-G4-108A version.
If you accidentally flashed the “A” version firmware to this NEO-G4-108C hardware,
IT WON’T WORK PROPERLY.

Now all of the NEO G4 we sold is 108C version, but if you got the neo g4 from us before,(about 2month ago), then you might get the 108A version, check it before you flash.

Since the neo x7mini is about 20usd lower than the neo x7, what is the difference betweeen this two models? Does it good to get the neo x7mini? let’s see this comparsion table:
