also you need to install the app in the post called OpenPad Union.

Now follow this instruction:

1 Turn on bluetooth function in your MTK smartphone;

2 Press Y + Home button on your G910 Game controller; now there will be 3 led flash in controller;

3 Go to your smartphone bluetooth setting, search new device, and find this g910 game controller, and pair with it. (please notice, the 3 led light will still flash even you pair with your smartphone, don’t worry about this)

4 Open the “openpad union” app in your smartphone, and then click the PLUS button in the following photo,

the app will help to search for the G910 game controller, once find it, you just need to click it, and then it will help to match with G910 game controller. after connect, you will see the following on your smartphones.and on your G910, you will just only the third led is light.

Now your smartphone is finally connected with your G910 game controller, and you can try to play “Dead Triggle” to test

this is the newest custom rom for minix neo x7, base on minix’s new stock rom, as you may know, minix did some work, and block the adb pushing, so it is hard to root the minix neo x7 with the usual method. if you want a rooted NEO X7, then now you have to flash this custom rom instead.

here we go:

Features and release notes for my 1.7 ROM:

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) This time I did not change the parameter file.
With 16GB and 4GB allocated for APPs, this seems like a good balance.
However, I added a 8GB, 10GB and 14GB parameter file by request.

3) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is… ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

4) All Google required APPs updated to the latest version as of this ROM build.
This includes the play store and other required Google CORE and APPs.
Minix stock ROM had a very old Play Store and GMS Core.
Updating caused bugs with constant asking for a credit card!
This is now fixed.

5) ADB was not allowing ADB push commands and giving permission denied.
This is now fixed

6) Gameloft fix. I did not have to apply this! Minix is learning and used my patch!

7) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say “not compatible”.
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device not a X7!
Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Minix Nexo X7.

I give you a choice of boot.img’s.
One enables Airpin and one does not.
I personally do not use Airpin so if you do not either then boot1080no_air.img will remove it.
Why have the annoying airpin service if you do not use it!
boot1080no_air.img is the default in my flash tool.

9) Of course as always I debloated the ROM of Apps!
Starting with a clean ROM is important depending on what you want to use your X7 for.
Why have APPs burning resources if you never use them?
This time I also removed all the RK Launcher and tools (LauncherNew.apk, RKSettings, etc).
Also Minix had some hidden APPs that were of no use. Not sure why this crap was in the ROM?

10) 720P kernel if your TV does not support 1080P
I have supplied a patched 720P kernel made from the stock 007 kernel.
It is in the folder FinlessROM/720p_kernel_boot
See below for how to use this in the flash tool.

11) A full set over overclocked kernels!
In the folder FinlessROM/oc_1080_kernels are a good set of OC kernels.
The file names explain what they do.
If you do not understand what the names mean, maybe you should not overclock!
USE at you own risk.
Special thanks to FreakTab developer phjanderson for making the patch-o-matic tool to easily make these kernels!
FYI, I modified Mr. Anderson’s patch-o-matic scripts to add more CPU scaling from min to max.
You get 7 scaling levels where his tool today only gives 3.

12) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).
Use this to easily get into flash mode to change boot.img’s or later kernels!

3 One TV or Monitor with HDMI port

What you should do now?

Step 1: Connect your Android TV BOX with your TV. usually you should connect the android tv box power adapter first, and then use the HDMI cable to connect the android TV BOX and TV.

Step 2: You should root your device, because the next app we recommend will requir the root access for your device. if you don’t know to root, just search on our blog, we put a lot of root method for different device sold by geekbuying.

Step 3: Install the following app to your Android TV BOX

you should download this app first, and then transfer this app to your android tv box;

Step 4: run this “Game Launcher” app, click “My Joystick” button,,it will ask you to install the one app called” OpenPad Union”, with this app, you can make your G910 connect with your TV BOX or smartphone easily. like the following photos:

the app will help to search for the G910 game controller, once find it, you just need to click it, and then it will help to match with G910 game controller. after connect, you will see the following on your TV BOX or smartphones.and on your G910, you will just only the third led is light.

Step 5: Now you have successfully connect your G910 and  your TV BOX, now you just need to open the Game launcher app:

and you can find the game list in “download more” and Games Courier”

If you already have some game installed in your tv box, you can just click MY Games and then this app will find the pre-installed game in your tv box, just click the one you want to play. and enjoy. You don’t need to do any key map if you follow this instruction, you just open the game, and the app will tell you how to use the controller.

Please notice, you must open this game launcher first before you run any games!

PS: some customers also ask me why they don’t choose ouya console if they need a game console, well, i also own an ouya, ouya is using the custom made android OS, while our android tv box is pure android os, with google play store pre-installed, in ouya, there is no google play store, you have to download games from their ouya store, however, most of the popular games hasn’t launcher in ouya store.

second, with this bundle ( android tv box and game controller), you also can install xbmc, netflix, hulu plus etc easily,and enjoy with your family.

Step 1: Press the B key on G910 and then press the HOME Key, the bluetooth LED indicator flash, and the handle enter into the pairing mode.

Step 2: Go to your iphone, and turn on the bluetooth, search device, you will find the device called” Gamepad”, just pairing with it. if it is successful, the LED light will be bright and the controller will be in the iCade Mode.

Sorry for being busy recenlty, and haven’t got a time to write some real reviews.

Now i am back again with the tv box reviews, today i will show you the TV01 RK3188 Quad Core TV BOX.

TV01 also some site call it as CS968 or CR11S, they are all from same factory. and use the same hardware, you can flash the same firmware, and use the same root method.

It should be the lastest model in my opinion, it has quad core cpu, external wifi antenna, built in webcam and Mic, Come with ethernet port, optical port, AV port,micro sd card slot, four  usb 2.0 port. almost all in one.

You will notice there is no otg port in this model, how you can connect it with your PC? i also doubt when i first check, and then, i know, they use the following USB port as OTG port:

and this factory put a Male to Male USB cable in the package, and make sure you can use it to connect with your PC.

Full accessories, coming with the IR remote,(without battery for safe shipping), and about the charge, please don’t worry, we will ship the correct adatper according to your shipping address.

How to connect TV01 with your PC?

I think the following photo can show you the detail:

Just Three Step:

① Power on the TV01 quad core tv box,we recommend to use the power adapter in the package;

②Connect the TV01 to your TV via the HDMI cable in the package, and set your TV to HDMI mode;

③Connect your TV01 with your local wireless network, and enjoy.

How to operate the TV01 quad core tv box?

You can use the IR remote to do the basic operation, and if you think that is not convenient, you can try to connect your wireless mouse or wire mouse with TV01 and operate. and If you get the best operation, we recommend you try our Tronsmart TSM01 Air mouse, it is the best bundle for those android tv boxes.

Now after you finish all of the setting, you should see the following in your TV:

The basic regular android menu. from this menu,we can see, there is soft power off button on the tool bar, means you can power off your device when you press this button.

It is much better than the original android UI in my opinion.

First i run the Antutu Benchmark, here is the result:

TV01 specification test from Antutu:

The Screen resolution is reported as 1280*672, and most of customers should ask why it don’t output the real 1080p, yes, it don’t. we have answered the same questions a lot of times. now all of the china android tv box stock rom are all based in 720p output, because in 720p, the system can run most steady, and CPU create less heat.  however, most of the android TV BOX can get real 1080p output with custom rom supported, we are already working with developers, and will release the 1080p custom rom support to our customers.

Second, i run the wifi analyzer to test the wifi signal on TV01, the external wifi antenna really help a lot in this tv box. it can find a lot of wireless signals near my office, and can get very good signals for my router.

And Then, here is the screenshot for the setting menu:

From the above photo,you can see, the TV01 quad core tv box support VPN,wifi hotspot,Ethernet, and it also divide 1.97G storage to the system use. here we always met some customer complaint why your ad said it is 2G ram and 8GB ROM, however, in the setting menu, i check,it is not . here is the reason:

Then next, I test some built in app in TV01 quad core TV BOX:

Google Play Store is built in, so you can just login in with your google account, and download apps, some customers may met the error about”sorry, your device is incompatible with the app, don’t worry, here is the solution:

Please notice, the miracast on those rockchip device is incomplete, it just can support few models, such as nexus 4, nexus 5, and nexus 7 2013. As customer reported, the Samsung S3 and S4 is not supported. if you own samsung mobile, and want to use this android tv box as miracast adapter, you will be disappoint.

There are also other basic built in app, i can’t review them all, discover them by yourself

Now it’s time to test some important app for you guys:

1 Youtube:

Downloaded the latest youtube from Google Play store, and run it on TV01 quad core tv box without any problem, you can get full screen.

2 Netflix,if you are live in netflix unsuppoted country, you should use VPN to make Netflix work!

3 Pandora,working!

4 HBO GO, working!

5 Crackle,working!

6 Skype, i think most people choose this model, because it built in 2.0MP camera, so you can do skype video chat in your living rom. and this device also do his job, skype working like charm:

7 XBMC, XBMC is really a nice media center app, and a lot of customers get the android tv boxes to run this app, however, we have to admit, now XBMC on android is not perfect, and especially on Rockchip platform,  because rockchip don’t open source, so the hardware decording is almost impossible in those android tv boxes. However,  the XBMC developer is also trying their best to make the XBMC app working great on this rockchip tv boxes. now you have the following choice:

1 install the XBMC XAF version, it use the external player.

Here is the newest custom rom for tronsmart MK908II. Special for Geekbuying customers!

Base on the latest release of stock rom , and here is the changelog:

I put back the AOSP Android launcher and status bar.
If you want that launcher, I will provide it in a zip.

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) Stock ROM was only 2 Gig of APP space.
BUT you also have parameter file options!
There are also 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 6gb options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
I also updated Google Play and required Google APPs to the latest version.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is… ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I re-enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu.
Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) I also re-enabled accessibility options in settings.

7) Gameloft fix. Rockchip sources now have this fix in!
They We at Freaktab learned this fix from Chistian Tory. Then FreakTab dev’s passed it on to Minix, then this got to Rockchip!
Amazing! All RockChip ROMs have had this GameLoft issue for 3 years. Now because of us Android lovers, RockChip finally fixed this!
I am proud as I am sure all FreakTab Dev’s are, to have helped Android progress even from Chip makers like RockChip!
Eventually they do listen to us users
With that said…. ROCKCHIP! REALEASE SOURCES!
If your going to use the communities developers to help you, THEN HELP US! Do the right thing!

I have unpacked it from boot and made it a choice in this ROM package.

As we all know, Rockchip don’t open source, so it is hard to use internal XBMC player to watch the 1080p video, however, This MINIX XBMC Edition will make the internal player work with 1080p video.

SO what is the detail of this version, check what MINIX said:

It has been optimized for the Rockchip VPU, so you’ll get better video performances than on a generic XBMC.
- VC1 and VP8 accelerated. Still issue with MPEG2.
- It contains the passthrough hack
- It has a distinctive android signature, so you can install it alongside any other XBMC. With further updates, you won’t loose your settings.
- It is based on Frodo (12.x)

This is just a Beta version, they are collecting feedback, and will release offical version soon. We are told this XBMC version should work with all MINIX serious, like NEO G4, NEO X5, NEO X7, NEO X5MINI, NEO X7MINI, but make sure you are use the latest stock firmware on those device.

We haven’t stopped updating the for our old models, today, the Finless helped to make a new custom rom base on the latest tronsmart mk908 stock firmware, here is the changelog:

0) Sorry I hated the new launcher provided with this ROM. It sucks in my opinion!
So I put back the AOSP Android launcher.

1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2

2) Stock ROM was only 2 Gig of APP space.
BUT you also have parameter file options!
There are also 1gb, 2gb, 4gb and 6gb options.
Read below for how to change that in the flash tool.
Realize if you use this 6gb option, internal SDcard will only have about 600 megs of free space!

3) Debloated of junk APPs and Google Apps you can get from Google Play.
I also updated Google Play and required Google APPs to the latest version.

4) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is… ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!

5) I re-enabled location services. This is now in the settings menu.
Tested and working with all APPs that use it.
Remember to turn off GPS as we have no GPS.

6) I also re-enabled accessibility options in settings.

7) Gameloft fix. Rockchip sources now have this fix in!
We at Freaktab learned this fix from Christian Tory. Then FreakTab dev’s passed it on to Minix, then this obviously got to Rockchip!
Amazing! All RockChip ROMs have had this GameLoft issue for 3 years. Now because of us Android lovers, RockChip finally fixed this! I am proud as I am sure all FreakTab Dev’s are, to have helped Android progress even from Chip makers like RockChip! Eventually they do listen to us users
With that said…. ROCKCHIP! RELEASE SOURCES!
If your going to use the communities developers to help you, THEN HELP US! Do the right thing!

Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say “not compatible”.
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device nopt a MK908 or RKSDK! Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a 908ii.
WARNING if you do this, you need to be using the 1080 kernel or your screen will be oversized!

9) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).

10) I provide the stock kernel but it does have the micro frame skipping issue!
BUT I have also created Vsync patched kernels that fix the micro frame skipping!
I have set the flash tool to use a 720P vsync kernel by default.

11) 1080P Kernel if you want it!
I also created a stock 1080 kernel (has frame skipping) as well as a vsync patched 1080 kernel.
See instructions below for how to choose the correct boot.img and kernel.img
720P boot and kernel is the default setup in my flash tool.

12) By request I added TUN.KO for VPN support. It was not in the kernel by default.

We have posted a lot of custom rom for MINIX NEO X7 device, however, seems nobody is working on the x7mini model. But now, the minix neo x7mini finally get his first custom rom support.

This custom rom is made by Rainer in freaktab again, a Germany rom developer, and make a really “serious” custom rom. here we go:

This Rom is based on a Striped Down Version of the Minix Rom with New Wi-Fi Driver for the best Performance.
Also included are Custom Kernels for 720p and 1080p. These Kernels are not really Overclocked.
They are running with 1608 MHz the GPU is Set between 400 and 600 MHz, also the Frame Skip Fix is included. If you want more Overclocked Kernel to then lock in the Packed. They are Included.

What Works:

Wifi
Ethernet
SPIF
Bluetooth
Sound Output has HDMI and SPIF Passthrough and 5.1 HDMI Multichannel

Software that comes with my Rom:

My Software Extra´s are installed by an Install Script please gave the Rom 5 Minutes to settle down.

So now let’s make it clearly. for T-R42 model, factory has changed the PCBA board from B351 v1.0 to B351 V2.0. so how to know which boards you have. here is the method.

Check the back of T-R42, you will find a S/N number, if the  S/N number start as T-R42, then means it is B351 V2.0 board, and you need the above firmware. if the S/N number start as BX, it means you have the B351 v1.0 board, and you just can use the old stock firmware here and all the other custom roms.

We have worked with custom rom developer, and will release the custom rom support for the new V2.0 board, please stay tuned.

Good news New Stock Firmware For Ipush2  Released, it improved the compatibility with IOS7.

1.  Decompress the file and copy the UPG file to your phone

2. turn on the ipush  and connect the phone with it via wifi.

3. load to the control  menu via web(according to the manual in the box)

4. click update, then follow it choosing the UPG file in your phone, it will update automatically.
